I am pleased to announce that we recently organized a workshop and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on “Perspectives and Scenarios of Food Safety for Functional Beverages Containing Botanicals” on June 30, 2023, at the IBIS Style Hotel, Bangkok. This workshop brought together approximately 30 Thai beverage companies, including both large enterprises and SMEs, involved in producing functional beverages with plant-based bioactive compounds and botanicals.
Workshop Highlights
The workshop provided a platform for extensive discussions and exercises regarding the quality, production, and traceability of anti-nutritional components in these beverages. Key concerns addressed included the uncertainty surrounding these factors and the current lack of comprehensive policies and guidelines, even on a global scale.
Project Focus
This initiative is part of a doctoral research project led by Ms. Jarunee Intrasook, one of my students. The aim is to explore evidence-based decision-making processes and develop policies and guidelines that will be beneficial for both policy developers and the industry.
