I am pleased to announce the successful completion of our two-week interactive and hands-on training program on “Advanced Probiotics: An Immersive Learning and Product Development,” which took place from March 11-26, 2024. Hosted at the Food AIT Food Engineering and Bio-process Technology (FEBT) and Food Innovation, Nutrition, and Health (FINH) departments, this training provided in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge to senior researchers from Mariano Marcos State University, The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, and The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Philippines.
The sessions covered a range of topics, including isolation and detection techniques (molecular methods) and their applications in developing food, feed, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical products. This initiative was made possible through the project titled “Advancing Ilocos Indigenous Food Production Systems Through Academic-Industry Collaborative Research and Innovations Toward Healthy Food Security,” generously funded by the Commission on Higher Education Development (CHED), Philippines.
This program aimed to enhance the capabilities of researchers and foster innovation in the field of probiotics, contributing to the advancement of food security and health. I am grateful for the support and collaboration that made this event a success and look forward to the continued impact of these advancements in the field.
