Sivanappan Kumar is Emeritus Professor and Adjunct Faculty at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) 

Currently, he is Professor at Faculty of Engineering, Naresuan University, Phitsanulok, Thailand.

In his academic career of nearly three decades, he has been involved in teaching, research, training, and outreach in the areas of renewable energy resources and technologies, climate change and greenhouse gas mitigation, and energy and sustainable development. He also has held senior academic positions during this period.
