{"id":407,"date":"2022-12-06T23:10:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T16:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/faculty.ait.ac.th\/shobhakar\/?p=407"},"modified":"2022-12-08T23:45:58","modified_gmt":"2022-12-08T16:45:58","slug":"6-december-2022-invited-talk-to-asian-and-pacific-center-for-technology-transfer-apctt-of-un-escap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faculty.ait.ac.th\/shobhakar\/2022\/12\/06\/6-december-2022-invited-talk-to-asian-and-pacific-center-for-technology-transfer-apctt-of-un-escap\/","title":{"rendered":"Prof. Dhakal speaks to an invited talk to Asian and Pacific Center for Technology Transfer (APCTT) of UN-ESCAP on &#8220;Innovations and technology applications for clean and renewable energy transition in cities&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In an invited talk by APCTT of  UN-ESCAPE, Prof. Dhakal argues that there is an utter lack of \u2018systemic viewpoints\u2019 and \u2018comprehensive technology roadmaps\u2019 for cities for enabling the evolving technologies for complementing towards clean and renewable energy based urban energy transition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Urban energy system is dominated by \u2018centralized and supply-centric\u2019 approach, it is seen as just an extension of national energy system without due recognition of energy resources and their potentials in cities. Cities, by definition, have high population densities and compact urban fabric  and RE is \u2018not enough\u2019 to feed a city\u2019s energy demand, given limited city areas and thus cities\u2019 must work with its hinterlands.
